The watchmaker’s responsibilities

As a watchmaker at Wempe, you will have the opportunity to prove the entire range of your existing skills – and multiply it.

You will work with different interesting and complex movements used around the world in the leading luxury watch brands. Along the way, you will learn all the necessary steps, from repairing to servicing a wide range of watches and clocks, as well as maintaining and restoring watch cases and components.

Administrative tasks and using the merchandise management programme are also part of the profession. We cooperate with the best instructors and sophisticated manufacturers to ensure that you can hone your skills to put you on a clear path to success.

After your training, you have a choice of working as service watchmaker in one of our showrooms around the world or in one of our exclusive brand boutiques. During visitations, training courses and internships with the manufacturers of the premium Wempe watches, you also become familiar with the largest international watch brands and earn valuable, often exclusive expert knowledge.

There are also a number of career paths open to master watchmakers at Wempe: In watch service, you can choose between our international showrooms or two of the largest and most state-of-the-art repair shops in Europe: Hamburg and Glashütte. If you would prefer to work in production, you can specialise in manufacturing our watches.

Of course you always have the possibility to continue training at the Wempe Academy, obtain recognised specialist certificates or, after successfully completing your apprenticeship, to become a master watchmaker. You can also take internships with leading luxury brands to qualify as an expert, a sought-after distinction around the world.
